FAQs

COACHING

What is Coaching?

Coaching is defined by the International Coach Federation as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” In simpler terms, Coaching honors and empowers the inner resources you already have. Partnering with a Coach helps to more clearly identify those resources so you can put them into action and achieve your personal or professional goals.

What type of Coach are you?

I am a Life Transitions Coach.

What do you do as a Life Transitions Coach?

As a Life Transitions Coach, I provide high quality coaching strategically designed to support individuals facing significant life transitions. Examples of life transitions include but are not limited to; separation, divorce, relationship endings, career loss/change or even the death of a loved one.

Dealing with life transitions can be difficult. The increased anxiety, stress and uncertainties can often cause one to become “stuck”. They can sometimes be overwhelming to face alone. Many people use coaching during these periods of major change. A Coach can actually be extremely beneficial in helping you to navigate and cope with change and loss, assess self-potential, re-discover your identity and set new goals for the next chapter of your life. As your Life Transition Coach, I partner with you providing strategic guidance as you navigate from where you are (point A) to where you would like to be (point B). I listen without judgment and maintain confidentiality as you discuss the areas of your life that you would like to change. Next, we will outline the steps you’ll need to take in order to get there. I help you to pinpoint and navigate obstacles that make you feel “stuck” so that you successfully move past them.  I inspire and support you along the way, but I will also hold accountable so that you stay on track. My ultimate goal is to help you reach yours.

What is the difference between a Coach and Counselor/Therapist?

A Coach is not a Therapist, Medical Doctor, Psychiatrist or Psychologist. While as a Coach, I do draw on my education, professional expertise and background, it is not intended to be used as a substitute for professional medical advice. A Therapist aims to diagnose and treat mental disorders. A Coach does not claim to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical problem or psychological disorder. A Coach provides the strategic guidance that honors and empowers the inner resources you already have. Partnering with a Coach helps you more clearly identify those resources and put them into action so you can achieve your personal or professional goals.

*Always consult a licensed medical professional if you suspect you have a medical emergency, need medical advice or information regarding medications.

Is Coaching appropriate for me?

If you are seeking assistance in making a personal or professional change or need assistance transitioning into a new stage of life, a Coach can be helpful. If you are ready, willing and open to taking the necessary steps to implement change, coaching is appropriate.

How can I get the most out of Coaching?

In order to get the most out of coaching, it is important to first understand you are fully and personally responsible for your results. It is essential to communicate honestly, be open to feedback and fully engage by putting forth your very best efforts during coaching. My role as a Coach is to support, inspire and guide you in reaching your goals, but your success depends on your own effort and commitment.

How frequent are our Virtual Phone Coaching sessions for the Signature package?

I recommend bi-weekly sessions for the Signature Coaching package (4 Virtual Phone Coaching Sessions). My goal is never to create a dependency but to empower and equip you with the tools you need to be successful in meeting your goal(s).  I like to speak with my clients on a bi-weekly basis to keep momentum and allow enough time in between sessions to complete tasks or action steps.

What if I need help in-between Coaching Sessions?

The Signature Coaching package offers the option of 4 emails between sessions to answer questions and provide additional support and clarification as needed.

How do you handle disputes during the Coaching Relationship?

My objective is to have a coaching relationship that is fully open and honest.  If I ever say or do anything that doesn’t feel right, please bring it to my attention so that we can resolve as soon as possible.
